My name is Jennifer Vaughan and recently was fortunate enough to be able to have the Colorado National Guard Foundation help me when my husband was deployed and our washer/dryer unit went out. My first reaction was tears when it happened because it felt like one more thing that I had to tackle on my own and try and purchase without any help. Knowing that this group was available was a huge relief and helped with the burden of buying a unit while trying to hold down the fort. My husband and I are so grateful for this foundation and the assistance that they provide to families who have deployed family members. It may not be a big issue to some but when trying to handle it alone it's nice to know that we weren't alone and help was there.
I recently returned from an overseas deployment and required some childcare and tutoring support for my two kids which also supported my wife and her needs as well. This service was absolutely indispensable and truly made a big difference. That said thank you from my family to yours, we offer our many thanks for always being supportive. This grant couldn’t have come at a more important time. Thank you again and happy holidays.
The Foundation has absolutely saved our family this month! After both being out of work for nearly 2 months due to my wife’s post surgical complications, we had no funds to pay for our basic living needs. Thanks to the Colorado National Guard Foundation, we didn’t have to worry about keeping a roof over our heads during these difficult times. If you need support, please reach out! The process is quick, simple, and worth the try if you feel you need assistance.
Thank you for to the Colorado National Guard Foundation, Inc for the grant given to our family. My husband is deployed and as difficult as a 11 month deployment can be, it’s even more interesting when you add a century pandemic on top of it! The grant is helpful to provide extra income as we lose income with the deployment. My husband voluntarily joined the Army, Colorado National Guard so this is not our main source of income. To be able to receive this added income, it makes our family sacrifices feel more appreciated.
I’d also like to give recognition to Jenni Zambo, Soldier & Family Readiness Specialist (SFRS) of the Colorado National Guard Family Programs for assisting us throughout the application process and making it seamless.
It is with great appreciation we accept the grant from the Colorado National Guard Foundation, Inc. A sincere thank you again.
When I was deployed on short notice, I had to deal with not only the stress of leaving my family behind, but also taking a 30% pay cut as I was planning to buy a house. The Colorado National Guard Foundation stepped into the gap and helped fill the hole in our finances at a critical time, and helped decrease the stresses of being deployed. Thank you Colorado National Guard Foundation!
While my husband was deployed to Afghanistan this year, the Covid-19 global pandemic started just as myself and the kids were getting used to the new normal of dad being gone. For the kids, homeschooling and suddenly not getting to see any of their friends or go to their normal activities made the deployment even tougher. For me, being an essential employee with our police department, I had to continue to go to work everyday and somehow find a way to deal with it all. We were lucky to have a nanny come to our house and watch our kids, but the cost of childcare made me almost be going to work everyday without pay. When the Colorado National Guard Foundation stepped in and covered our childcare costs, a huge financial and emotional burden was lifted. It truly made all the difference in the world for our family. We feel blessed and loved to be a part of such a compassionate organization! Thank you, thank you!
Soon after my husband left for deployment our garage door broke. A bracket has snapped making it impossible for our door to shut manually or automatically. We had a repair company come out the next morning and they were able to fix the bracket but left us with a hefty bill. I was so thankful to know about the Colorado National Guard Foundation and contacted the FRG right away. We applied and were approved for the grant within 24 hours and had our check the next day. Quick turn around and fluid communication throughout the entire process. Thank you!!
Thank you from the bottom of your hearts for the income replacement grant in the amount of $12,000.00 with the 1st half of the grant received. It emotionally and mentally gives us such a boost in morale while Lance is deployed and I am unable to work needing to take care of our son. It is such a financial relief!! We are so grateful for your generosity. We just really feel cared for by you. To put the past year into words: having a baby, Lance immediately being put on a deployment. From being gone so many months in the fall and now deployed, moving across the U.S.. to know you all exist to help brings tremendous relief and tears to my eyes writing this. We are so very grateful.
As a military spouse of 13 years, I've journeyed through the highs and lows of five deployments out of country. This latest was our first deployment with the National Guard after leaving active duty Army and becoming self-employed for the past two years. When our National Guard unit became activated for deployment, I was left with a business to run and children to support. Now, as the sole caretaker and business manager, I needed to place my youngest child in daycare an extra day a week. Although families and support staff in the National Guard often live across the state and beyond, I never felt disconnected from the support I needed within the unit. After speaking with my Colorado National Guard Family Assistant Specialist, I became notified of the Military Family Relief Fund and how this benefit is provided to immediate families of activated soldiers who encounter extraordinary financial circumstances during deployment. I applied for and quickly received the benefit, helping pay for the cost of extra days in daycare. What a blessing to know that while my soldier is deployed, the financial burden of these extraordinary circumstances would be taken care of.
On behalf of my husband and I, the foundation greatly aided in providing income replacement as I have not been able to work for lack of childcare while my husband has trained for deployment and been deployed. The financial assistance has provided significant relief not only fiscally, but also mentally and emotionally relieved a burden on us. Thank you for caring for our family in this way. We are grateful that you heard our concerns and helped in such an impactful way. Thank you for the time and consideration you put into making your decision and for making our military journey feel more supported and our family cared for.
I wanted to express our huge gratitude for the grant awarded to our family from the Colorado National Guard Foundation. The money will help us out tremendously while Josh is on deployment. We hired a part time nanny to help with our son, while I'm at work, which is such a relief and blessing to our family. She is able to provide such wonderful care, and help fill in some of the blanks while Dad is gone. Thank you again for the assistance and such quick response!
A big thank you the Colorado National Guard Foundation for their support during our recent deployment. It wasn’t easy at all, especially when our AC went out in the middle of summer. However, I know it would have been even worse had I not received such tremendous help and compassion from you!
The NG Foundation helped my family while I was deployed to Afghanistan and beyond, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I had been gone for 1 month when my wife and I found out we were pregnant with our second child. This meant I would not be home for the birth, or to help with caring for our newborn son or his two-year old sister. The NG Foundation came through and allowed us to pay for desperately needed child care when my wife returned to work.
Their support of me and my family did not stop there. While deployed to Afghanistan I was injured. During the demobilization process it was determined that I would need surgery, and I was retained on active duty as a medical hold at Ft. Bliss Texas. I was going to be held over Thanksgiving and would not be allowed to go home to my family and newborn son. My wife reached out to the NG foundation again and explained our situation. We received a prompt response that said the NG foundation would absolutely help us, and paid for flights for my wife, daughter, and newborn son, lodging and meals! Not only did I get to spend Thanksgiving with my family after being deployed for a year, but I was able to meet my son. Words cannot express my gratitude to the NG Foundation, but I sincerely appreciate the work you do, and the support you show soldiers and their families. Please keep up the great job you are doing!
I recently lost my mother and missed work due to being there with family and for the funeral out of state. I am so thankful for the CONG Foundation for helping my family and I out with rent and some bills when we got back because I didn't know how we were going to pay them otherwise. They took a much needed burden off my shoulders for my family and I during this time. I appreciate all that this foundation does and how much they care! THANK YOU!
The Colorado National Guard Foundation has always been there to help me. When I moved here and was struggling they helped me on my feet. They are always so kind and understanding in any situation you’re in and that makes going to them that much easier. They will always be there to help or even find you help if they can’t provide it. I thank everyone at the CONG FOUNDATION for everything they have done for me.
I am very thankful that there is a Military Relief Fund for those in financial need. My husband was set to deploy this January 2019 and as usual, we tend to lose part of our salary because I must work less to be available for our son since day care is too expensive. This deployment was a bit different; we are pregnant, and I had some complications where I could barely work. We lost a big chunk of our income and with my husband not being here I still needed help. Then I learned that our heat and A/C had broken. I felt as if everything was falling apart while my husband is deployed. I got several estimates, but they were all so expensive and we knew we did not even have half of the money it was required to repair all of that. I learned about the Military Relief Fund and how they could help us financially. I instantly felt a tremendous weight fall off my shoulders and felt like I could breathe again. Again, I am beyond thankful for the help given to my husband and me.
Thank you so much for considering my application. There's been some struggle in my life and it's great to know there's help out there if I really, really need it. I just moved states with 2 young boys. My father was dying. I got into a not so great relationship. Was struggling to find work. This foundation gave a lot of relief. This foundation relieved a lot of stress. I am still struggling with some things, but I had somewhere to stay and my truck was not repossessed. I am still hoping things will work out for the best. I am incredibly appreciative of this funding. I am incredibly appreciative of my military family.
The CONG Foundation, Inc. REALLY helped me the last time my husband was deployed! I was prepared for maybe a washing machine to go out, but the literal FOUNDATION of my house? NO! They came through with shining colors, and offered personal support afterward. Thank you ALL so much!
The common joke among military members is that something always happens during deployment when your spouse is away. Basically, we received help twice. Once after a tornado and once when the hot water heater blew. The quick and timely response from the Military Family Relief Fund certainly helps relieve the additional pressures that these stressful situations can add.
“When my Soldier was away for his second deployment in 2010, I had just moved to Denver from another state, didn’t know anyone, was going to school on-line full time and trying to take care of the home. Then the water-heater burst...then the water main broke....then the roof started leaking. It was literally just one thing after another but with help from the MFRF we were able to navigate through it all. It was great to have the Military Family Relief Fund there to provide assistance!
